Zarda

Zarda a traditional sweet dish of Pakistan. Every one love this divine dish. Today I made basic recipe of zarda, to clear you the concept of how to make it perfectly.

You can add sweets like gulab jamun, chamcham , khoya in it and also some nuts to make it more delectable.

Serving = 4

Ingredients

  • Rice  250 g
  • Sugar  250 g
  • Clarified butter  200 g
  • Small cardamom  2-3
  • Cinnamon stick  1 small
  • Cloves 2-3
  • Kewra water  1 tbsp
  • Rose water  1 tbsp

Directions,

1. Soak rice for half hour.

2. Fill a pan with water, put cinnamon stick, small cardamom, and cloves.
Also add yellow food colour as required.
Let it boil.

3. Add rice and boil them until full done. Strain them and throw all water.

4. Now in a separate pan add clarified butter with sugar and 1/4 cup water. Cook just until sugar dissolve in it.

5. Add in rice.

6. Stir and cook for 2-3 minutes on high heat. Add kewra water and rose water. Then keep tight lid on and cook on low flame for 10 minutes (dum) .
