Tacos

taco is a traditional Mexican dish in which crunchy or soft corn tortillas are stuffed with meat, fresh veg or seafood with tasty taco seasoning, crisp lettuce, grated cheese and a dash of tangy salsa. 

I made them in a quick way with ready made crunchy taco shells for my husband’s birthday lunch and  these tacos were FANTASTIC! They made me want to shout for joy! My children and husband absolutely loved them! 

Ingredients,

List 1,

  • Ready made tacos shells  8-9
  • Lamb meat mince   1/2 kg
  • Onion  1
  • Garlic paste  1/2 tbsp
  • Oil  2-3 tbsp
  • Salt  as required
  • Cumin powder  1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder  1 tsp
  • Dried Oregano 1 tsp
  • Red chili flakes  1 tsp
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp
  • Cheddar cheese   1 cup
  • Lettuce   as required

List 2 for tomato salsa,

  • Tomato  2
  • Green capsicum  1/2
  • Onion  1 small
  • Salt  as required
  • Lemon juice 2-3 tbsp

Directions,

1. Heat a pan , add 2-3 tbsp oil with 1 chopped onion.

2. Add in 1/2 tbsp garlic paste. Stir few seconds then add mince.

3. Stir it until all extra juices evaporate from it. Then add salt, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili flakes, oregano and mix well.

4. Add in 1/2 cup water and let it cook for half hour.

5. Now cook on high heat and dry it. Add lemon juice.Turn off the heat.

6. Now for tangy salsa , add all list 2 ingredients in a chopper and chop them, do not make fine paste,leave some chunks in it.

8. I am using these taco shells.

9. Now take each shell, fill it with cooked mince, place some cheese on it and bake it in a preheated oven at 180 C for almost 10 minutes or until cheese melt.

Keep some salsa on each taco with some lettuce. Serve hot with salsa
