Urad Dal Gosht Recipe

A delicious and my favorite everyday meat and lentil curry recipe. I love making it and my family like the taste of this curry. I find it really easy to make that is why it is in my everyday recipes. It is kind of our comfort food because of simplicity and taste.

Serving = 5-6

Ingredients

  • Lamb/goat meat with bones  1/2 kg
  • Oil   1/4 cup
  • Onion  1 big
  • Garlic paste  1 tbsp
  • Ginger paste  1/2 tbsp
  • Tomato  1
  • Tomato paste  1 tbsp
  • Urad dal   3/4 cup
  • Salt  1 tsp or as required
  • Turmeric powder  1 tsp
  • Kashmiri red chili powder  1 tsp heaped
  • Coriander powder  1 tsp heaped
  • Garam masala powder  1/2 tsp
  • Black pepper crushed  1/4 tsp 
  • Lemon juice  1-2 tbsp

List 2 For Garnishing,

  • Fresh coriander
  • Ginger julian
  • Green chili

1. Soak urad dal for 1/2 hour.

2. In a pan add oil and sliced onion, cook until translucent.

3. Add in ginger garlic paste, stir few seconds.

4. Add in meat, stir for 5 minutes.

5. Now add salt. red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder. Stir few seconds.

6. Add in 1 tomato and tomato puree. Stir few more seconds.

7. Add in 1 cup water and cook it until meat is nicely tender, for almost 1 hour.

8. Now stir the meat and cook it until you see oil with the sides of the pan.

9. Now add 1-1/2 cup water, let it boil then add in urad dal.

10. Cover and cook on low heat until lentil is nicely tender but not mushy. Add in garam masala powder, black pepper powder and lemon juice. Mix well and turn off the heat.

Garnish with ginger julian, fresh coriander, and green chilies. Serve hot with rice or naan.
