Chicken Borek

Turkish cuisine is famous for its endless varieties of delicious layered pies and pastries, called ‘börek‘ . ‘Börek‘ is made with layers of yufka or phyllo. It comes in many shapes and sizes and is filled with everything from meat, cheese, spinach and even spiced-up mashed potato.

It is made by layering several sheets of phyllo dough with a mixture of milk (or yogurt), eggs, and oil in between, and is flavored by placing a filling of your choice in the middle of those layers.

You can also use samosa pati which you use in making kagzi samosay, in this recipe. that will give perfect taste and texture.

This dish is best for your parties or tea times and this is a must try delicious recipe.

Servings= 6-8

Ingredients,

  • Filo pastry  250 g

For filling, List 1

  • Chicken mince   500 g
  • Onion  1 big
  • Garlic paste  1 tsp
  • Salt  1 tsp
  • Paprika powder  1/2 tsp
  • Crushed red chili  1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder  1 tsp
  • Lemon juice  1 tbsp
  • Green chili  1 big
  • Fresh coriander  hand full

To soften the pastry, List 2,

  • Egg  1/2
  • Milk  1/4 cup
  • Oil  2-3 tbsp

For top brushing, List 3,

  • Egg  1/2
  • Milk  2 tbsp

Directions,

1. Heat a pan add 3-4 tbsp oil and chopped onions. Stir for 1 minute.

2, Add chicken mince and stir on high heat until all extra juices evaporates.

3, Add all remaining ingredients from list 1.

4, Mix well , turn off the heat. Let it cool.

Now mix list 2 and list 3 ingredients separately.

Take a baking pan, grease with oil. Layer 1 sheet of filo pastry, brush it with list 2 mixture.

Keep some cooked chicken on it.

Layer 1 more sheet of filo pastry on it, and brush it again with list 2 mixture.
Keep layering it, chicken,filo pastry,list 2 mixture.

At end brush list 3 mixture on top nicely

Cut it with knife ,your desired size pieces.

Bake it in a preheated oven at 175 C, for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
