Mutton Dopyaza

A delicious mutton curry recipe with onions. This is my family’s most favorite every day curry. We love to have it with fresh homemade chapatis.

Ingredients

  • Mutton with bones   500 g
  • Onion  4 medium
  • Tomatoes  2
  • Ginger Garlic paste   1 tbsp
  • Oil  1/4 cup
  • Salt  1-1/2 tsp or as required
  • Red chili powder  1 tsp
  • Coriander powder   1/2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder  1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder   1 tsp
  • Black pepper crushed   1/4 tsp
  • Lemon juice  3 tbsp
  • Fresh green chilies   4-5
  • Fresh coriander  for garnish
  • Ginger julian cut for garnish  1 tbsp

1. Heat oil in a pan, add sliced onion. Cook until translucent.

2. Add in ginger, garlic paste and mutton.

3. Stir until meat colour changed.

4. Now add tomatoes, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder.

5. Stir for 5-6 minutes.

6. Add in 1 cup water and cook for almost 1 hour or until meat is nicely tender.

7. Now in a separate bowl slice 3 onions, green chilies. Add in lemon juice and set a side until meat is cooking.

8. When the meat is nicely cooked, stir it on high heat until you see oil with the sides of the pan.

9. Now add onions we made above.

10. Mix well, add garam masala powder.

11. Add black pepper, fresh coriander,ginger julian and cook it on very low heat with lid on, for almost 10-15 minutes.

Serve with plain rice or naan.
