Kulchay Recipe 

Kulchay is type a flat bread made of flour. Traditionally it is baked in tandoor oven. Basic dough is same but you can make it in different flavors, topped it with different  things like garlic, coriander, sesame seeds, black seeds.

I am making garlic coriander kulchay and cooked them on stove. Very easy and quick recipe. I served these Kulchay with chickpea curry called Cholay. Cholay Kulchay is a traditional street food in Punjab Pakistan. Everyone love it. 

You can serve these Kulchay as normal flat bread with any kind of curry.

Ingredients

List 1,

  • Plain flour or Bread flour   500 g
  • Baking powder  2 tsp
  • Salt  1 tsp
  • Sugar  1 tsp
  • Oil  2 tbsp
  • Water  as required

List 2,

  • Garlic paste  2-3 tbsp
  • Fresh coriander chopped  4-5 tbsp
  • Butter melted   1/4 cup

Add all list 1 ingredients in a bowl, knead it with water, make a medium-soft dough. Cover and leave it for almost half hour.

Divide it in 8 to 10 portions. Roll it in oval shape with the help of some dry flour. Do not roll it very thin.

With your fingers rub garlic paste on it then sprinkle chopped coriander and press it on rolled dough.

Heat a flat pan. Cook this kulcha on it for few seconds then flip it and cook on other side for few seconds. Then finish cooking this on direct fire. With the help of some tongs hold the kulcha and give it colour on direct fire of stove.

Kulcha is ready.Brush it with butter and serve it hot or cover it in a clean cloth until serving.
