Bombay Biryani (chicken)

Serving = 5-6 persons

Ingredients,

List 1 (for marination)

  • Chicken   750-800 g
  • yogurt   1 cup /250 g
  • salt  1-1/2  tsp  or as required
  • red chili powder  1 tbsp
  • coriander powder  1-1/2 tbsp
  • garam masala powder  1 tbsp
  • lemon juice  1/4  cup
  • mint leaves   7-8
  • dried plums  1/2 cup  soaked in hot water
  • green chili  2
  • ginger garlic paste  3 tbsp heaped

List  2

  • onion  2
  • tomato   3
  • potatoes  2-3
  • mint leaves  15-20
  • fresh coriander   1/2 cup
  • milk  1/2 cup
  • yellow food colour  1/2 tsp
  • oil  for cooking and frying

List 3 (for boiling rice)

  • rice  550 g
  • mint leaves 4-5
  • small cardamom  4
  • big cardamom  2
  • caraway seeds  1 tsp
  • cloves  4-5
  • salt 4 tsp

Directions,

1. Add chicken and all list 1 ingredients in a bowl....marinate this for almost 1/2 hour.

2. Finely slice 2 onions, fry them until golden brown.

10. take sliced tomatoes,fry them with 2 tbsp oil on high heat for 2-3 minutes.

15. add rice, mix milk and yellow food colour...add on it, also add 1 tbsp kewra water.

17. Now with tight lid cook it first on high heat for 1 minute then on slow heat for 10 minutes.

18. open it and take out biryani from sides of the pan...you can see rice are nicely done.
