Bolognese sauce is a meat-based sauce in Italian cuisine, typical of the city of Bologna. It is used for tagliatelle bolognese and to prepare lasagne.
Yes this sauce can be use for both lasagne and pasta. I made this in a big batch then freeze in 1 serving portions that is almost 1/2 cup. So when ever I need a quick dinner for my family, I just take it out from freezer, microwave it until defrost then mix with boiled pasta and serve 🙂 Easy!!!!!

Now lets make the Bolognese sauce.
Bolognese Sauce

1 kg Beef mince
2 medium Onions
2 Carrots
2 Celery
5-6 Garlic cloves
2 cans Chopped Tomatoes (800 g)
2 tbsp Tomato puree
500 ml Chicken or beef stock (I mix 3 tbsp chicken powder with 500 ml water)
2 Bay leave
2 tsp Red chili flakes or as required
Salt/Black pepper as required
4-5 tbsp Olive oil

- Chop all vegetables, 1 by 1 in a food processor.

- Add all these vegetables with 4-5 tbsp olive oil in a pan.

- Turn on the heat ,stir and cook on high heat for 5-10 minutes. Then turn the heat off.

- Now heat a separate pan, add in 3-4 tbsp oil with beef mince.

- Stir and cook until all extra juices from meat evaporate.

- Cook until mince is nicely dry, this will ensure maximum taste.

- Now put this mince in vegetables mix, we made above. Stir and cook for 5 minutes.

- With the lid on, cook it on low heat for almost 2 hours.

- Bolognese sauce is ready. Mix it with pasta or freeze it in small portions for later use.
