Kala Channa Chat / Black chickpea Chat

 kala channa chat, easy way of making chat.

Serving = 7-8

Ingredients,

  • Black chickpeas  (kala channa)   500 g
  • onion  1 medium
  • garlic cloves chopped 7-8
  • yogurt  1/2 cup
  • salt  1 tsp
  • soda bicarbonate   1 tsp
  • whole dry red chilies   7-8
  • cumin seeds (zeera)   1 tbsp
  • coriander seeds   1 tbsp
  • tamarind pulp  3-4 tbsp
  • lemon juice  as required
  • 1 onion, 1 tomato, fresh coriander for garnish

Directions,

1. Soak black chickpeas for 7-8 hours.

3. Take a pan, add 3-4 tbsp oil with 1 chopped onion, cook until slightly golden,

4. Now add chopped garlic, stir for few seconds, then add ginded masala we made above...stir for few seconds...do not burn it.

5. Now throw all extra water of chickpeas, add in, stir for 2 minutes, then add yogurt...again stir it for 2-3 minutes.

6. Add 4-5 cups of hot boiling water with 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp soda bicarbonate....let it boil then on slow heat cook it until chickpeas are nicely tender.

7. Keep some gravy at end...add tamarind pulp and lemon juice...taste salt if you feel its less add more.

9. Garnish chickpeas with these...serve...sprinkle some chat masala on top if you want.
