Chocolate Sponge Cake

My most favorite Chocolate Sponge Cake recipe. Completely no fail, moist,easy and quick to make with deep chocolaty flavour. Do try it, you will love it.You can make many different icings or frostings with it. I suggest go for this delicious Chocolate Buttercream recipe and you will get a perfect decadent chocolate cake.

Serving= 7-8

Makes 2 square 6 inch pan cakes.

Ingredients

  • Plain flour  1 cup
  • Sugar  1 cup
  • Unsweetened Coco powder   1/4+1/8 cup
  • Baking powder  1 tsp
  • Baking soda   3/4 tsp
  • Salt  1/4 tsp
  • Instant coffee powder 1/2 tsp
  • Milk  1/2 cup
  • Vegetable oil  1/4 cup
  • Egg  1 large
  • Vanilla essence  1 tsp
  • Boiling water   1/2 cup

1. Preheat your oven at 170 C. Grease 2 square pans 6 inch size and line the bottom with parchment paper.

2. In a bowl add plain flour, sugar,coco powder, baking soda, baking powder, instant coffee powder.

3. Whisk through for 30 seconds to combine using paddle attachment.

4. Add milk, oil, egg, vanilla essence to it.

5. Mix on low speed until combine.

6. Reduce speed and add boiling water. Mix until combine.

7. Chocolate sponge batter is ready.

8. Distribute into 2 pans equally.
Bake for 30 minutes almost.

9. Check with a skewer. Let them cool in pans for half hour.

Take out when cool and serve with your favorite icing.

  1. I have oven which has rods upward n downward…what i have to do…turning on both the rods?

      preheat your oven by turning on both rods …. then before putting your cake in … turn on bottom rod and bake your cake for almost 22-25 minutes … and for last 5-6 minutes turn on the upper rod ….
